Elaringai has been owned by Kirsten and Gary Roberts for 20 years and was developed from pastoral land. Both Kirsten and Gary have been involved with and active in Hunter Organic Growers for some years. Following a 50th birthday gift to Kirsten of the Introduction to Permaculture course at Permaculture Sydney Institute with Penny Pyatt, a basic understanding of permaculture was converted into a passion and she subsequently completed her Permaculture Design Certificate at Geoff Lawton’s Zaytuna Farm.
Along with help from Kirsten’s brother George, who completed his PDC at Permaculture Sydney Institute in 2017, the plan is to develop Elaringai into both a permaculture demonstration site and to offer courses on permaculture and related subjects. Several courses are planned for launch 2019 including Kids in Permaculture and Art.
